Syllabus for 2011 UPSC Aptitude Test for Prelims

From Civil Service Examination 2011, Preliminary Examination would consist of two papers- Paper I and Paper II. The syllabus and pattern of the Preliminary Examination would be as under:

(Paper 1) (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs.

  • Current events  of national and international importance
  • History of India  and Indian national movement
  • Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world
  • Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc.
  • Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc.
  • General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change-that  donot require subject specialization
  • General science.

(Paper II) (200 marks) – Duration : Two hrs

  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • Decision making and problem solving
  • General mental ability
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level)
  • English language comprehension skills (Class X level)

According to me its early to say anything about this, its just arrived so see it for 2-3 years then decide. In my knowledge this pattern is so much like CAT pattern so this is not possible to stop institute but new institute will be come in race like management institute and also new student from management and commerce will be come in race and make compition more tuff so its not going easy. so friend one thing i also tell you that many poor student did their graduation from hindi medium studing histoy, hindi, geography and other subject and use those book for preperation for civil service so they are in pressure. So see this pattern for 2-3 years then give your opinion. But welcome this pattern because by it we can see or read some good some good view of young generation after preliminary 2011. So all the best.....

this is nice to hear. so upsc is now accepting that wisdom is more important than knowledge. Paper II is brilliant.. so guys preparing for PO exams be ready for the show. thanks for not making any change in paper I. we would be very happy, if they minimize the no of papers in the mains.

after getting this news i get into trouble that would it be well for me or not? otherwise i was preparing old pattern for last two years and feeling myself amiable for that one now. since it is changed now i feel it a big blow. but i m not despaired bcos nothing is impossible.......
