The Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai, offers One-Year scholarships at the Masters’ level for students who wish to study in the UK or two-year scholarships in the USA in the broad field of Development Studies, with special focus on Developmental Economics, Public Health or Science-Technology-Society (STS) Studies.

The scholarship aims to provide opportunities for young people to study and train in a set of academic disciplines with direct relevance to India’s future needs. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated academic excellence, choosing to study in academic programmes not presently available in India, such as Development Studies; Quantitative Development Economics; Science, Society and Development; Science, Technology and Society; Public Health/Community Health etc.

The objective of the Fellowship is to provide integrated five year fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students from minority communities, as notified by the Central Government to pursue higher studies such as M. Phil and Ph.D. The Fellowship will cover all Universities/Institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) and section 3 of the UGC Act and will be implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs through UGC for students belonging to the minority communities. The fellowship under Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students will be on the pattern of UGC Fellowships awarded to research students pursuing regular and full time M. Phil and Ph.D courses. The fellowship holders under this Fellowship will be known as Ministry of Minority Affairs scholars.

(News) CSAT: Aspirant are Clueless & Confused

The first-ever Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) that will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on June 12 has left applicants confused and disappointed. The UPSC has not clarified on the total number or the type of questions that will be asked in the exam till now though there are only 10 days left for the exam. While the students are clueless on how to prepare for the exam, the coaching centres too are not in a position to train them. About 35,000 students have applied from the state for CSAT this year. Students from the state have been doing well in the civil services exam for the last three years by being ranked in the top 10 at national-level. This year, about 60 students were selected from the state for various civil services.
