Exams like CAT,GMAT etc have enough apti testing skills. The already existing selection procedure for civil services is by itself tedious and requires lot of hard work. One can never clear civil services just like that. This everyone knows. Then what is the need of pressurising the aspirants by these unwanted changes? This is an exam where a candidate's proficiency in almost all the fields is tested.I really dont understand the need of this pattern.A candidate's decision making skills and leadership skills are very well tested in interview. This change will create lot of confusion among the aspirants, question setters and the evaluators.Especially the people with rural background will really be affected. It is acceptable if apti tests are conducted along with the already existing pattern of GS and Optionals making 4 papers on the whole. But apti tests replacing the existing pattern is really unaccepatble and frustrating.

i think that the aptitude test is a good way to bring uniformity among aspirants with different optionals. a detailed understanding of the subject, which is the basis to understand the intellectual capacity of the aspirant, was the aim of the prelims. however, the same can be accomplished by the aptitude test. however, the structure of the test plays a vital role as well. it should nt be just math questions or the logic q's askd in other aptitude tests. it should strike d rite balance. if it does so, i would be very glad of the aptitude test. however, since preparations for 2010 prelims hv already started, the change should be in effect from 2011. also. the structure of the mains should also be tweaked to accomodate for the changes.

Every is excellent right from the preliminary level to the interview. but I dont know why they include group discussion to be a part of interview? . The People who can not take initiative to talk in a group may show better performance in action. I think, the group discussion part should be delete from the recriutment process.

UPSC ka expected format dekhne ke baad aisa hi laga ki agar unko Math or English wale hi chahiye to itna sab natak kya karne ki jarurat hai. direct CAT se attached ho jana chahiye,jo top rankers ho unhe select kar le. agar maths and resoning ka alag se paper hoga to UPSC exam ka koi matalab nahi banta hai.
If agar changing format Psychometric test ka hoga to fir thik hai.
INDIA me sirf ik hi exam aisa hai jo hindi (all regional language) and english ke beech equally justify karta hai and sabhi medium walo ke beech bhi same format provide karta hai.
lekin Psychometric test chhod kar kuch aur change hua to fir ye exam bekaar hai.

Truely speaking, not really happy with this change. I personally feel administrators need to be generalist and the existing pattern did serve this purpose but this change is baised towards towards technicals with the inclusion of aptitude.
I dont know how a simple aptitude could bring out an administrator.
UPSC has to rethink over this.
